Lamps and lighting
Dear customer,
As you know, Marindex is a wholesaler and supplier of various household items for temporary housing. We supply everything from duvets to doormats, from teaspoons to garden chairs.
What may have escaped your attention is that we also have an extensive range of lighting in stock; It’s not always easy to bring attention to the various types of lamps available.
In the past, you only had the choice of incandescent, halogen, or fluorescent lights, but now there are many types of lamps such as LED lamps, energy-saving lamps, dimmable and non-dimmable ones.
The most well-known lamp is still the incandescent lamp. Incandescent lamps are cheap to buy and emit a "cozy" light.
The halogen lamp was designed to replace the incandescent lamp, as the halogen lamp provides twice as much light and lasts much longer. However, this is only true in comparison to the incandescent lamp and not when compared to energy-saving lamps and LEDs.
Fluorescent lamps use very little energy and have a long lifespan. Older generation fluorescent lamps emitted a cool light, but the latest generation of tubes have warmer light colors. The lifespan of fluorescent lamps is significantly reduced when you turn the lights on and off frequently. This is a downside. So, use these lamps in spaces where the light needs to stay on for long periods.
The energy-saving lamp is a relatively recent innovation. An energy-saving lamp is essentially a fluorescent tube shaped to fit a standard ('incandescent') socket and lasts for ten years. As a compact version of the fluorescent lamp, energy-saving lamps are ideal for places where you need a lot of light for extended periods, just like the regular fluorescent lamp.
Energy-saving lamps have a disadvantage: they take a little time to start up, so they are not ideal for quick tasks, like grabbing something from the pantry.
LED is the biggest innovation in lighting. While we used to find LED a little too white, current LED lamps come in many colors.
Also, the space determines the choice of lighting. Is it for the workplace, living room, kitchen, hallway, or bedroom? Each room needs its own type of lighting.
For a reading or workspace, direct lighting is very useful, while for a more atmospheric space, indirect lighting is more suitable.
A ceiling lamp provides general and indirect lighting in your living room. In addition to all the other lamps that provide accent lighting, a ceiling light ensures that the room is evenly lit.
